Most users of UNIX rely on some shell which offers various forms of command or file completion. This allows for very fast and efficient typing. File completion can be enabled in Windows NT as follows:
Open a DOS box
At the prompt, execute the Registry Editor (regedit)
In the Registry Editor, Select:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Command Processor
Set CompletionChar to 9
Set EnableExtensions to 1
Exit from regedit
Close the Registry Editor, and the DOS box
Now, when a DOS box is opened, pressing the TAB key while typing a command will cycle through those files which match what has been typed on the command line.
