Reduces customer risk, cost, and time to deployment for safety certifiable avionic systems
PHOENIX, AZ. — May 31, 2017. DDC-I, a leading supplier of software and professional services for mission- and safety-critical applications, today announced the availability of its DO-178 safety-critical real operating system Deos for Abaco’s DO-254 certifiable, mission-ready FORCE 2 rugged display computers and SBC314 single board computers. Deos is certifiable to DO-178 Design Assurance Level A (DAL A).
Deos is a field proven, safety-critical, in-flight, avionics RTOS that hosts a multitude of flight critical functions, such as air data computers, air data inertial reference units, cockpit video, displays and flight instrumentation, flight management systems, and engine management. Built from the ground up for safety-critical applications, Deos has been certified to DO-178 DAL A since 1998, and is the only certifiable time- and space-partitioned COTS RTOS that has been created using RTCA DO-178, Level A processes from the very first day of its product development. Deos features deterministic real-time response as well as time and space partitioning. Deos also features patented slack scheduling, which enables it to deliver higher CPU utilization than any other certifiable safety-critical COTS RTOS.
“Deos provides the fastest, lowest risk, and most cost-effective path to DO-178 Level A certification for safety critical avionics systems,” said Greg Rose, vice president of marketing and product management at DDC-I. “The FORCE2 COTS computer provides an ideal platform for rapidly developing, certifying, and deploying ruggedized avionics applications requiring the highest level of safety criticality. We are delighted to have worked with Abaco to make Deos available for the FORCE2.”
Abaco’s mission ready FORCE2 rugged display computer features a 3U VPX single board computer, which offers a choice of either the Qualcomm (formerly NXP/Freescale) QorIQ T2081 1.8-GHz high performance processor or the T1042 1.4-GHz low-power processor, supported by up to 8 GBytes of memory. It also includes AMD Radeon 8860 or CoreAVI E8860 graphics processing units. Along with the Deos operating system, Abaco provides optimized drivers and APIs that ensure applications developed for FORCE2 will be conformant with the FACE initiative.
“Safety certification is a significant challenge for many of our customers, and Abaco continues to take the lead in helping them, such as providing the artifacts necessary to achieve DAL A DO-254 certification” said Mrinal Iyengar, Vice President, Product Management at Abaco Systems. “The combination of Abaco’s FORCE 2 with DDC-I’s Deos means that customers can now accelerate their development and certification. We expect it to be very attractive to customers seeking to get their solutions to deployment faster, with less risk and lower cost.”
