Deos RTOS brings high-speed S32V234 multicore processing, I/O, imaging, control and graphics to DO-178 safety-critical avionics applications

DDC-I, a leading supplier of software and professional services for mission- and safety-critical applications, today announced the first partitioned DO-178C multicore real-time operating system for the NXP S32V234 processor with verification evidence to Design Assurance Level A. S32V234 processors running Deos™ make an excellent platform for developing, deploying and certifying compute-intensive DO-178C avionics software with the most demanding I/O, control, imaging and display requirements.

The S32V234 is optimized for secure, compute-intensive vision and sensor fusion applications, featuring four 1-GHz ARM Cortex-A53 Neon processors with additional processing engines for I/O, graphics, image processing and security functions. The processors share 512 kbytes of L2 cache and 4 Mbytes of internal RAM, which can be segmented with Deos memory pools and cache partitioning to reduce worst case execution times and cache-induced jitter. The S32V234 also provides external memory interfaces for high-speed access to LPDDR2 and LPDDR3 DRAM and a quad-SPI interface for access to external flash. I/O support includes dual CAN-FD 64 Mag interfaces, and a 5-Gbps PCIe lane.
Deos is a safety-critical embedded RTOS that was first certified to DO-178 DAL A in 1998. Featuring deterministic real-time response, the time- and space- partitioned RTOS employs patented slack scheduling, memory pools, and cache partitioning to deliver higher CPU utilization than any other certifiable safety-critical COTS RTOS. Deos provides the easiest, lowest cost path of any COTS RTOS to DO-178 Level A certification, the highest level of safety criticality.
