Joins panel on Advancing Integrated Systems & Connectivity, and presents paper on Multicore ARM Processors for Safety-Critical Avionics
BOOTH # B10a
Phoenix, AZ – June 12, 2018. DDC-I, a leading supplier of software and professional services for mission- and safety-critical applications, today announced that it will demonstrate an integrated safety-critical platform running high-end graphics at the Aviation Electronics Europe (AEE) show. Utilizing North Atlantic Industries’ (NAI) Custom-on-Standard-Architecture (COSA), the integrated system will feature DDC-I’s Deos DO-178 real-time operating system running CoreAVI OpenGL graphics and ENSCO IData display software.
DDC-I also announced that technical marketing manager Gary Gilliland will join a panel discussion on Advancing Integrated Systems & Connectivity and present a technical paper on Multicore ARM Processors for Safety-Critical Avionics. DDC-I will demonstrate its integrated safety-critical platform in Booth B10a at the show, which runs from June 19 – 20 at the MOC Event Center in Munich Germany.
Attending the show will be CEOs, engineers, and business development managers representing airlines, airframers, integrators and prime contractors (fixed wing and rotorcraft), avionics manufacturers, software developers, IT and technical managers, R&D, supply chain managers, distributors, maintenance staff, EASA, FAA and other regulatory personnel. Conference topics will include mandates and regulations, and how they impact the industry and supply chain, evolution of the European Institutional Framework, advances in ATM, navigation & surveillance, integrated systems & connectivity, and disruptive technologies and trends such as artificial intelligence. Workshops will address operations and safety, operating systems and architecture, and hardware/software challenges, including DO-154 and DO-178C.
“AEE provides an excellent venue for DDC-I to demonstrate its integrated safety-critical platform to the international avionics community,” said Greg Rose, vice president of marketing and product management at DDC-I. “COSA systems equipped with Deos and high-end display capabilities provide an ideal open architecture platform for rapid development, certification, and deployment of safety-critical software for a broad range of commercial and military avionics applications.”
DDC-I’s Deos is a field proven, safety-critical, avionics RTOS that is used to host a multitude of flight critical functions, such as air data computers, air data inertial reference units, cockpit video, displays and flight instrumentation, flight management systems, engine management, and many more. Built from the ground up for safety-critical applications, Deos was the first RTOS certified to DO-178 DAL A, and is the only certifiable time- and space-partitioned COTS RTOS that has been created using RTCA DO-178, Level A processes from the very first day of its product development.
Deos features deterministic real-time response as well as time and space partitioning. Deos also features patented slack scheduling and cache partitioning, which enables it to deliver higher CPU utilization than any other certifiable safety-critical COTS RTOS. Deos is supported on x86, ARM, and PowerPC microprocessors.
NAI’s Custom-On-Standard-Architecture (COSA) offers highly configurable solutions on standard platforms, with a choice of over 40 intelligent I/O, measurement and simulation, communications and Ethernet switch functions. NAI’s COSA systems provide the highest packaging density and greatest flexibility of any SBC platform in the industry.
The CoreAVI driver suite supports OpenGL SC 2.0 + Extensions, is certified to DO-178C DAL A, and is FACE Aligned, including the General-Purpose, Safety, and Security profiles. The OpenGL drivers support multi-threading, multiple partitions, Hypervisor Multi-core, context management, integrated video capture, and GPU security. All CoreAVI drivers are designed and developed from the ground up to enhance safety, reliability and security. Each driver also includes a comprehensive suite of Built-In-Tests (BIT).
IData is an advanced COTS Human Machine Interface (HMI) software development toolkit for creating and deploying embedded software display applications. Architected with the same philosophy as the ARINC 661 specification, IData is a single integrated display design solution with a data driven architecture, platform independent, high performing, and certifiable to DO-178C DAL A. IData offers a rich set of advanced features with seamless integrations for 2-D and 3-D digital moving maps and 3-D views to design powerful and functional HMI applications that can run on a number of target platforms.
