DDC-I and Partners Demonstrate FACE-Conformant DO-178C Deos RTOS and Tools at Army Aviation Mission Solution Summit

BOOTH # 228

Nashville, TN – April 3, 2022.  DDC-I, a leading supplier of software and professional services for mission- and safety-critical applications, today announced that it will exhibit at the Army Aviation Mission Solution Summit, which runs from April 3-5 at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel & Convention Center in Nashville, TN. DDC-I will showcase its FACE-conformant DO-178C Deos real-time operating system and OpenArbor development tools running on an Intel Tiger Lake reference platform in Booth 228.

The Deos environment will also be featured in partner demonstrations, including NAI’s MOSA-aligned SWaP-optimized architecture, and RTI’s Connext Data Distribution Service. Additional demos from the MOSA and FACE demonstration team will be available in the U.S. Army Program Executive Office (PEO), Aviation MOSA Transformation Office booth.

“We’re excited to be part of the Army Aviation Mission Solution Summit and look forward to demonstrating our world class, FACE-conformant safety-critical platform to the Army aviation community,” said Greg Rose, vice president of marketing and product management at DDC-I. “Modular, reusable COTS systems equipped with Deos provide an ideal platform for rapid development, certification, and deployment of safety-critical software for a broad range of Army aviation applications.”

DDC-I’s Deos is a safety-critical time and space partitioned real-time operating system (RTOS). Verified to the guidance of DO-178C/ED-12C Design Assurance Level A (DAL A) for avionics applications, Deos supports ARINC 653 APEX, Rate Monotonic Scheduling (RMS), and is the first RTOS to receive the Future Airborne Capability Environment™ (FACE) Conformance Certificate for the FACE Technical Standard, Edition 3.1.  The certification covers the Safety Extended and Safety Base Profiles for the Operating System Segment (OSS).

SafeMC technology extends Deos’ advanced capabilities to multiple cores, enabling developers of safety-critical systems to achieve best in class multi-core performance without compromising safety-critical task response and guaranteed execution time. SafeMC employs a bound multiprocessing (BMP) extension of the symmetric multiprocessing architecture (SMP), safe scheduling, and cache partitioning to minimize cross-core contention and interference patterns that affect the performance, safety criticality and certifiability of multi-core systems. These features enable avionics systems developers to address issues that could impact the safety, performance and integrity of a software airborne system executing on Multi-Core Processors (MCP), as specified by the Certification Authorities Software Team (CAST) in its Position Paper CAST-32A for Multi-core Processors.

About the Army Aviation Mission Solution Summit

The annual Army Aviation Mission Solution Summit, sponsored by the Army Aviation Association of America (AAAA), is an opportunity for the entire Army aviation community to gather in one place at one time focused solely on Army Aviation issues. Experience next generation Army aviation technology and functional static displays of helicopters in the 280,000 square foot exhibit hall; Join thousands at the professional sessions in the main ballroom Monday and the new Aviation Warfighter Theater and the exhibit hall on Tuesday to hear leadership messages and see soldier award presentations; Engage senior leaders in Q&A both Monday and Tuesday afternoon in the Aviation Warfighter Theater in the Exhibit Hall. Open Working Group meetings will include Aviation Warrant Officer Readiness Review; The Future Force Aviation Soldier; Army Aviation Virtual Training & Simulation Panel; Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA); Cavalry Warfighter Forum and Aircraft Survivability.

DDC-I Debuts Multicore Integrated DO-178 Display Systems at Army Aviation Mission Solution Summit

Power Architecture and i.MX8 platforms equipped with Deos DO-178 RTOS supporting  3D synthetic vision

BOOTH 936

Nashville, TN – April 12, 2019.  DDC-I, a leading supplier of software and professional services for mission- and safety-critical applications, today announced that it will present a pair of live avionics demonstrations featuring high-end graphics and display capabilities at the Army Aviation Mission Solution Summit, which runs from April 14-16 at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel & Convention Center in Nashville, TN. The first, employing a ruggedized Curtiss Wright NXP Power Architecture T2080-based VPX3-152 OpenVPX single-board computer equipped with DDC-I’s safety-critical Deos real-time operating system and CoreAVI OpenGL graphics, supporting 3D synthetic vision utilizing Ensco IData and IDataMap display software. The second demo, featuring an i.MX8 reference platform running Deos and CoreAVI graphics, will showcase high-end display capabilities utilizing Ansys display software.

The annual Army Aviation Mission Solution Summit, sponsored by the Army Aviation Association of America (AAAA), is the only opportunity for the entire Army aviation community to gather in one place at one time focused solely on Army Aviation issues. The summit provides unique opportunities for the community to network, be recognized, have its voice heard, and support our soldiers and their families. Attending the summit will be soldiers (active, National Guard, and reserves), veterans and retirees, special operations, MEDEVAC, and industry leaders in R & D, simulation, acquisition, logistics, training, doctrine, and maintenance. This year’s edition will feature a Hall of Fame Induction Banquet and close with a Soldier Appreciation Dinner Concert featuring Lee Brice and Ryan Weaver.

“We’re excited to be part of the Army Aviation Mission Solution Summit and look forward to demonstrating our integrated safety-critical platform to the Army aviation community,” said Greg Rose, vice president of marketing and product management at DDC-I. “ Multicore COTS systems equipped with Deos and advanced display capability provide an ideal platform for rapid development, certification, and deployment of safety-critical software for a broad range of Army aviation applications.”

DDC-I’s Deos is a field proven, safety-critical, multicore avionics RTOS that is used to host a multitude of flight critical functions, such as air data computers, air data inertial reference units, cockpit video, displays and flight instrumentation, flight management systems, engine management, and many more.  Built from the ground up for safety-critical applications, Deos was the first RTOS certified to DO-178 DAL A, and is the only certifiable time- and space-partitioned COTS RTOS that has been created using RTCA DO-178, Level A processes from the very first day of its product development.

Deos features deterministic real-time response as well as time and space partitioning. Deos also features patented slack scheduling and cache partitioning, which enables it to deliver higher CPU utilization than any other certifiable safety-critical COTS RTOS. Deos is supported on x86, ARM, and PowerPC microprocessors.
