DDC-I will demonstrate its Deos™ safety-critical real-time operating system (RTOS), which utilizes the latest DO-178C Design Assurance Level A (DAL A) multi-core verified baseline. Gary Gilliland, DDC-I’s vice president of marketing, will also give a technical presentation titled “Safety-Critical Software Integration and Reuse in Avionics” on Tuesday May 5 from 10:30 AM – 11:00 AM as part of Technical Session A, Avionics and Systems.
“We’re excited to be part of Forum 82 and look forward to demonstrating our world class, safety-critical RTOS platform to the vertical flight community,” said Gary Gilliland, vice president of marketing at DDC-I.
The Vertical Flight Society’s 82nd Annual Forum & Technology Display is the world’s leading international technical event on vertical flight technology. The conference will span three days and includes 250+ technical papers on every discipline from acoustics to test & evaluation and include presentations and discussions by leaders in the military, government agencies, and industry.
The Technology Display, running concurrently with the Forum, is the most extensive exposition of cutting-edge vertical flight technologies in the world, and also includes technologies more broadly applicable to aerospace in general. Leading manufacturers, service providers, defense agencies, universities, and research and development organizations will showcase the very latest in vertical flight technology in our exhibit hall.
About Deos
Deos is a safety-critical embedded RTOS that employs patented cache partitioning, memory pools, and safe scheduling to deliver higher CPU utilization than any other certifiable safety-critical COTS RTOS while also addressing AC/AMC 20-193 multi-core objectives. The Deos environment also offers security features, middleware, networking, and other components often desired for modern embedded systems.
Deos is employed in commercial and military ground, marine, air, and space systems where reliability and determinism are paramount. Rooted initially in avionics, Deos was first certified to DO-178 DAL A (the utmost software process standard) in 1998 and is deployed in over 10,000 commercial aircraft. Deos’ use cases also extend beyond avionics, where its proven technical features provide numerous advantages over legacy RTOS architectures, especially as integrated system complexity continues to grow while still requiring a high degree of determinism and robustness. Deos is also aligned with modern military initiatives such as FACE®, MOSA, PYRAMID, and others.
Deos offers a modular approach, uniquely at the object code level, which isolates deterministic applications from changes when other modules are added, removed, or modified. This modularity greatly improves application and system component reuse and reduces the cost of change for system improvements, enabling developers to more easily reconfigure their systems for multiple use cases and shorten the time and effort needed for next-generation products.
