The Deos Real-Time Operating System is the most deployed RTOS in avionics history.

Deos was built from the ground up to accelerate the DO-178 DAL A certification process. Other RTOS solutions were repurposed to meet the strict requirements of safety-critical systems which results in a longer and more expensive certification/recertification process.

Deos was the first time and space partitioned RTOS certified for flight on aircraft by the FAA, EASA, and most other certification authorities world-wide. It is the overwhelming dominate COTS RTOS for commercial aircraft avionics.

If you need safety-critical performance, the choice is DDC-I. Deos is:

  • Certified to DO-178C/ED-12C DAL A, is flying in tens of thousands of aircraft, and has logged untold millions of flight hours
  • Multi-core enabled through its SafeMC™ Technology giving developers the ability to bound resource contention and safely schedule processes on multiple cores
  • Time and space partitioned, and explicit resource allocation enforcement inherently support isolation of computing and I/O resources, leading to a secure system design
  • Designed for Modularity which lowers avionics system risk, minimizes cost and effort of change during development or updates, promotes reuse of functionality for common compute platforms, and provides a more agile avionics deployment process
  • Secure with DO-326A-aligned processes and a suite of security products including secure boot, encryption, secure networking and other options
  • One RTOS product line – no product fragmentation for ARINC653, multicore, or processor type (no CPU dependencies)

Example Applications:

Deos uniquely scales from rudimentary end-point control systems to more complex Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) systems. These wide application use cases are achieved because Deos provides both high throughput and determinism. Further, the Deos RTOS components and tooling are the same no matter if operating on a small single core microcontroller or a multicore multiprocessing IMA system. With these capabilities, Deos is also an ideal platform for developers with disparate product lines with or without DO-178 requirements.
